Membership of the Order is restricted to subscribing member of the United Religious, Military and Masonic Order of the Temple and of St. John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta, or the recognized equivalent body in other jurisdictions. Candidates are admitted as Knights Templar, installed and invested with the insignia of the Order. Originally, dispensation members could wear Knight Templar Mantles and Tunics with the Badges of the Order. However, they were expected to obtain the correct Mantle and Tunic by the time that they were appointed as Prior.
